ST Engineering unit bags $87m contract to provide SAF driver training

ST Engineering today announced that its land systems arm, ST Kinetics, has been awarded a six-year contract worth $87 million to provide driver training for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

DTC will provide basic riding and driving courses for Class 2, Class 3 and Class 4 licensing requirement, and upgrading courses for the Class 4S (articulated vehicle/trailer), Class 5 (recovery vehicle-driving only) and the All-terrain Forklift Course. It will also conduct advanced and continuation courses such as MAN Truck Familiarisation Driving, MAN Truck Continuation Program, Ford Everest Familiarisation Driving, Artillery gun-towing training, Engineer special-to-type vehicle towing training.

Additionally, DTC is required to integrate on-road driving training with state-of-the-art Driving Training Simulator System developed and provided by the SAF for the basic riding and driving courses.

ST Kinetics’ Driver Training Centre (DTC) has been training SAF personnel since August 1997 and the new contract will extend its services till December 2015.
