Passenger traffic at Singapore’s Changi Airport, Southeast Asia’s biggest, rose for the fourth consecutive month in November as airlines increased flights to cities around the region.
Changi handled 3.37 million passengers last month, up 9.2% from 3.08 million in November 2008.
“Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) increased capacity on routes to Australia and New Zealand, Europe and Japan, while Philippine Airlines (PHL.UL) and Cebu Pacific Air increased frequencies to Manila and Cebu respectively,” Changi said in a statement today.
The Singapore airport also said it handled more air cargo for a second straight month, with airfreight movements rising 4.6% to 152,567 tonnes in November from 145,815 tonnes a year ago.
