The following companies may have unusual price changes in trading today, say Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters. Share prices are from last Friday’s close. Singapore’s Straits Times Index rose 0.7% to 2,800.75.
The Dow and S&P 500 closed up for a third straight session last Friday after several solid consumer-related reports reinforced investors' confidence in a steady economic recovery.
Keppel FELS (KPLM.SI), a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, said last Saturday it is on track to deliver the sixth of seven semisubmersible drilling rig tenders to Seadrill before the end of 2009 and within budget, which will cap a record year of 13 rig deliveries for Keppel FELS.
Swiber Holdings (SWIB SP): The provider of offshore support services to the oil and gas industry said it won two contracts worth as much as US$81.9 million ($114 million) from major oil companies in Southeast Asia. The stock added 0.6% to 91 cents.
Bulk carriers: The Baltic Dry Index, which measures the cost of shipping commodities, dropped 2.5% in London on Dec 11, taking losses in the past five days to 12.9%.
Cosco Corp. Singapore (COS SP), a China-based shipbuilder that also operates bulk carriers, was unchanged at $1.08. Mercator Lines Singapore (MRLN SP), an Indian bulk carrier, was unchanged at 30.5 cents. STX Pan Ocean Co. (STX SP), South Korea’s biggest bulk carrier, rose 0.7% to $13.80.
Beyonics Technology (BT SP): The Singapore-based electronics contract manufacturer said first-quarter profit tumbled 64% from a year ago to $2.04 million. Beyonics slipped 2.6% to 19 cents.
CapitaLand (CAPL SP): Southeast Asia’s biggest property developer said it aims to grow its China business to $10 billion of its portfolio in the next three to five years from $6.7 billion as of Sept 30. The stock was unchanged at $4.19.
Datapulse Technology (DT SP): The media storage products maker said first-quarter net income fell 32% to $3.9 million from a year ago as sales dropped by 30%. The stock climbed 4.2% to 25 cents.
Low Keng Huat (Singapore) (LKH SP): General Corp. (GCB MK), a Malaysian property group, said its Low Keng Huat (Singapore) unit agreed to form a joint venture to develop apartments, offices and a hotel in Front Beach, Vung Tau City, Vietnam. The joint venture’s investment capital is US$48 million ($67 million), the Malaysian company said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur. Low Keng gained 1.5% to 34 cents.
Popular Holdings (POP SP): The bookstore operator said it plans to sell 194 million shares at 13 cents to existing shareholders. Separately, the company said first-half net income rose 50% from a year ago to $14.8 million. Popular gained 2.8% to 18.5 cents.
SIA Engineering Co. (SIE SP): The aircraft maintenance unit of Singapore Airlines (SIA SP) said it will restore pay-cuts and discontinue its no-pay leave policy from Jan 1. The stock was unchanged at $3.15.
Silverlake Axis (SILV SP): The provider of technology solutions to the banking industry said it bought the remaining 75% stake in SBI Card Processing Co. from SBI Holdings Inc. (8473 JT) for 454.2 million yen ($7.1 million). Silverlake shares were unchanged at 28.5 cents.
Samko Timber (SAMKO SP): The processed timber products maker said it plans to raise $29.2 million, selling shares to existing shareholders. The stock last traded at 9 cents.
Van der Horst Energy (VDHE SP): The biodiesel company said it has acquired an additional 10 million shares of Novena Holdings (NOV SP), raising its stake to 11.9%. Van der Horst rose 2.4% to 21 cents. Novena was unchanged at 22 cents.
