Roche Holding AG, which last month opened a $500 million manufacturing plant in Singapore, will set up a research facility in the city-state, the local press reported.

The Swiss drugmaker will invest a further $100 million to conduct so-called translational research, including studies on how drugs designed in laboratories can better benefit patients, the Singapore-based newspaper said.

The company may be eyeing premises in Singapore’s Outram district, the reports also said.

Roche and the Economic Development Board of Singapore declined to comment, according to the reports.
