Singapore Exchange (SGX) has released a progress report on the transition by Catalist Non-Sponsored (NS) companies to the sponsor-supervised regime. Under this regime, companies are required to appoint a sponsor by Feb 5, 2010.

At the launch of Catalist on Feb 5, 2008, there were 154 companies listed. Out of these, 87 companies have now appointed a sponsor, 32 of them have transferred to the Mainboard while six companies were delisted. The remaining 29 companies have not appointed a sponsor, says SGX.

Since January, Catalist companies have been providing investors quarterly reports on the progress of their transition. Based on the latest progress reports by the remaining 29 Catalist NS companies, 22 of them say they intend to appoint a sponsor by Feb 5.

Of the remaining seven companies, two are suspended while five have indicated they will pursue alternative plans. Investors are advised to review and monitor companies’ transition plans and to take into account their status in making investment decisions, says SGX.

As previously announced, companies that have not appointed a sponsor by Feb 5 will be suspended from trading until Dec 31, 2010.

Share trading will resume when a company appoints a sponsor or undertakes corporate actions to maintain their listing status. Catalist-NS companies without a sponsor after Dec 31 will be delisted.
