ecoWise Holdings, the renewable energy and environmental services company, says subsidiary ecoWise Marina Power has been awarded a contract by the National Parks Board to design, build and operate a co-generation system at Gardens by the Bay at Marina Way.
Under the contract, the co-generation system will produce up to 0.9 MW of electricity and 5.4 MW of heat. Horticultural and wood waste sourced and processed by ecoWise will serve as feedstock for the co-generation plant.
Construction is to be completed in two years and ecoWise will continue to operate the plant for the next 15 years following commissioning of the co-generation plant with guarantee off-take by NParks.
The Gardens by the Bay project adds to ecoWise’s array of projects under its renewable energy segment. In this segment, the group currently operates a 1 MW biomass co-generation plant in Sungei Kadut which supplies electricity and thermal energy to a number of industrial users.
Meanwhile, ecoWise says it has inked a joint venture in Wuhan, China, to convert an existing 25 MW coal-fired power plant into a biomass co-generation plant. The conversion is ongoing and the new biomass co-generation plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2010.
