AusGroup says its unit AGC Industries won a A$100 million ($127 million) contract by BHP Billiton Iron Ore.

Under the deal, Australian subsidiary AGC Industries will construct an ore handling plant and the stockpile and conveyor systems.

It will also fabricate 2,000 tonnes of conveyor components and transport 43 structural modules — ranging from 100 to 300 tonnes — from Port Hedland to the Yandi mine site, located 140km northwest of Newman in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

AGC Industries will start moving the modules to site next February.

AusGroup’s Managing Director John Sheridan says, “We are delighted to secure this contract, on such an important project. We are looking forward to delivering this project to the complete satisfaction of our client.”

With this contract, the AusGroup’s order book is A$500 million.
